You could start running today if you want to get in better shape. You could start learning things if you’re interested in starting a business. If you start now, who knows, maybe you’ll have accomplished what you wanted before the middle of next year.
By finishing the year on a high note, you can look back on this time and be proud of the work you put in. While everybody’s closing out this time eating, shopping, and returning gifts, you can make this the moment you reach your peak. Here are some tips that’ll help you achieve your best success as we close 2021.
10 ways you can end your year on a positive note
1. Work on a resolution you never started
We all entered this year with a lot of different ideas of we wanted to work on. Some of them, you’ve probably put a lot of work in, but a lot of others, you probably never started.
If there was something you really wanted to get done this year and haven’t, make this the moment you do it. Maybe you wanted to learn a new skill or start a new business venture. It’s not too late to at least say you got started on it.
2. Work on a goal you procrastinated on
There are some goals you probably did start but never actually kept working on. This can be the time you pick that goal back up and really make some progress. Maybe you still have enough time to get that objective finished before the end of the year.
Think about how good you’ll feel if you manage to do that. You’ll enter the next year full of confidence to take on the goals you’ve planned out.
3. Plan out your goals for next year
Another way you can finish strong is just getting yourself ready to hit the ground running with your 2022 goals. Write down the things you’ll need to start on your objectives.
- What tools and equipment will you need?
- How much time are you going to devote?
- What steps are you going to need to take?
These questions are good starting points for setting up an effective strategy. Get started in planning how you’ll accomplish your goals for the new year.
4. Start next year’s objectives now
Who says you have to wait until the clock strikes midnight on January 1st to start next year’s objectives. If you’ve already got a plan set up, start doing it. By the time everyone’s beginning to plan out how to accomplish their objectives, you can be well on your way to getting yours accomplished.
5. Declutter your space
There’s a lot of physical and mental baggage we probably don’t want to take into the new year. Declutter that stuff out of your life to give yourself a fresh start.
- Are there old items you’ve been meaning to throw out?
- Do you have old feelings that you need to let go?
- What items did you not use much this year?
These are the things you can begin decluttering out of your life now. With less of the baggage, you can have more energy for the things you want to focus on in the future.
6. Pay off some debts
Probably one of the last things any of us wants to carry into the new year is debt. While you may not be able to pay off all of them, you can start getting rid of small ones.
Maybe you can also pay significant chunk off a large one. Finishing strongly in this way can potentially give you the boost you need to be debt free by next year.
7. Save a little extra
A little extra cash to close the year would probably make most of us feel pretty good. While it’s difficult with the holidays being a time most people spend money, who says we have to?
When you think about it, it’s mainly the advertisers that say we do. But it’s important we use the year’s end to spend time with loved ones and make enjoyable memories.
That doesn’t have to require spending money. Save a little extra that you can use to start investing more in yourself and your ideas.

8. Accomplish one more big thing
When people talk about ending the year with a bang, they usually mean a party or some other large get together. But why one end it with a bang by getting one more big thing accomplished. You can get your confidence levels at an all-time high to start next year by getting one more big task done.
9. Reflect on your progress
There’s a lot you probably already have accomplished throughout these last few months. But even if you only accomplished a little, that’s still something to be proud of. Take time to appreciate all the hard work and effort you put in to achieving what you wanted.
10. Rest up
Perhaps one of the best ways you can finish up the year is resting up. While a lot of people will stay up late and wake up the next day a little tired, you can wake up refreshed and ready to get going with your goals.
Find that extra bit of passion and strength to put out one last strong effort. You’ll not only feel good about how you finish things off, but it’ll make you inspired and motivated to make your next year your best one yet.
